Ace
When a ball is hit from the tee into the hole in only one stroke. Also referred to as a hole-in-one.
Address
When a player takes a stance and places the head of the golf club behind the ball this is known as addressing the ball. After addressing the ball, any movement of the ball is considered a stroke.
Aerosol
A term to refer to a player who rarely hits the ball in a straight line. A player who sprays the ball.
Aggregate
A score that was made throughout more than one round of play, or a score made by two or more players playing as partners.
Aim
The direction in which you intend for your ball to go once hitting it, typically towards your target.
Air shot
When a player attempts to hit the ball, but does not make contact with the ball, hitting only air. See also whiff.
Albatross
A shot made in three or more strokes under par. Also known as a Double Eagle.
Alignment
The way the golfer's body is positioned in relation to the anticipated direction of the ball.
